FULL DAY TOUR

From sunrise to sunset

A full day tour is specially recommended for birdwatchers. Also for photography and botany tours.

You can also take a full day tour to complete your target bird list. Some species are restricted to small areas, are always moving in a flock from one place to another, are difficult to find in the immensity of the flat lands, are very secretive or just difficult to tell apart from a close relative.

Some times we have to go to a particular spot a bit far from Doņana to get a particular species or group of species. You can check the Birding Sites and the Birding Spots pages for more information.

Our guides will make it easy for you.

The usual full day tour would follow the same route we describe for the half day tour and include some other interesting spots  in the Natural Park and surroundings. We will design the route depending on your target list and your different interests.

These are some other sites, areas and spots you can alternatively visit in your full day tour:

Odiel Marshes. The second most important protected area in Doņana region consists of a large salt marsh complex with sandy spits and beaches, located just next to the industrialized city of Huelva. It’s especially important for passing and wintering waders and water birds. Several coastal lagoons nearby will complete an excellent birding day.
The traditional pilgrims track along the northern banks of La Rocina Stream passes by some of the thickest riverbank forests and finest sceneries in the area. It will give you some good chances to see mammals like Genet or Mongoose and it is an excellent spot for the Nightjar in Summer time.
Brazo del Este (Eastern Branch), an old branch of the Guadalquivir River zigzagging across the rice fields. If offers a great variety of aquatic birds. It is one of the best spots for Glossy Ibis, Squacco Heron, Marbled Duck, Penduline Tit, Waxbill and the largest populations of Purple Gallinule.
Asperillo Sand Dunes. This beautiful area out of the usual routes will offer you the most beautiful sceneries along a short trail across the dunes down to the sandy beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. Warblers, Raptors and Sea birds.
Tinto River, just at the foot hills of Sierra Morena offers some impressive and unusual views and the chance to see a bunch of species difficult to find in Doņana´s low lands.
Sierra Pelada. At the far north of the province of Huelva, these hills hold one of the most important Black Vulture colony in Spain.
Rice Fields. There are some 35.000 has of fields flooded from June on. You will need several days to explore the whole area. Every day is different there. We will take you to the most productive spots in a few hours.

Either of our excursions involve a long drive (50 -100kms or more) on a 4WD vehicle. Along the way we will  make as many stops as convenient in order to appreciate the natural values of the area.

Beverages and food are available at several points along the day but we advise you to bring what you consider you will need to get along between this points. Our guides will offer you some cold drinks as the weather gets warm from late April or early May on.

An break around midday may be taken from May to avoid the heat of the central hours of the day.
